The cost of materials may include a reasonable handling and procurement charge.

For commercial or account customers, payment is due within the agreed payment terms shown on the invoice.

Accepted payment methods include:

  • Bank Transfer
  • Debit/Credit Card

Ownership of all materials supplied and installed by Lighthouse Engineering Ltd remains with Lighthouse Engineering Ltd until full payment has been received.

Late payments may incur interest and reasonable recovery costs in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, where applicable.

The works shall be deemed satisfactorily completed when they have been completed in accordance with the agreed quotation or specification and are capable of being safely used for their intended purpose.

Minor cosmetic defects or outstanding snagging items that do not affect the safe operation or functionality of the installation shall not delay payment. Any agreed snagging items will be completed within a reasonable timeframe.

Appointments

Customers must provide safe and reasonable access to the property at the agreed appointment time.

If we are unable to gain access, or an appointment is cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, we reserve the right to charge for any reasonable costs incurred as a result.

Customer Responsibilities

The customer agrees to:

  • Provide safe and unobstructed access to the work area.
  • Secure pets during our visit.
  • Inform us of any known electrical faults, hazards or asbestos-containing materials.
  • Remove or adequately protect valuable items where necessary.

We cannot accept responsibility for damage to concealed cables, pipework or other services that could not reasonably have been identified before work commenced.

Additional Work

Hidden defects or unforeseen issues occasionally become apparent once work has begun.

Where additional work is required, we will explain the reasons and provide a revised quotation or cost before proceeding wherever reasonably practicable.

Where an immediate electrical danger exists, we reserve the right to carry out any work necessary to make the installation safe. Where possible, this will be discussed with the customer beforehand.

Fault Finding

Electrical fault finding is an investigative process.

Whilst every effort is made to diagnose faults efficiently, we cannot guarantee how long it will take to locate the cause of a fault.

Time spent investigating faults is chargeable regardless of whether repair work proceeds.

Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs)

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) reflects the condition of the electrical installation at the time of inspection only.

The inspection is carried out in accordance with the current edition of BS 7671.

The report cannot guarantee future performance or identify every concealed defect within the installation.

Certification

Where applicable, we will provide the appropriate certification, including:

  • Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC)
  • Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate (MEIWC)
  • Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR)
  • Building Regulations notification where required.

Certificates will normally be issued once full payment has been received.
